Currently working for Slate

Rachel Gross is the online science editor at Smithsonian Magazine in Washington, DC. Until recently she was a writer for Slate Magazine, where she covered science and food, among other things. She grew up in Southern California, and holds a master’s in science journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, as well as a Bachelor’s in rhetoric and English literature from the University of California at Berkeley. In the past she worked for Wired, The New York Times Bay Area, and Moment Magazine. Her work has also appeared in The Atlantic, National Geographic News, New Scientist, Science, California Magazine, and The Jewish Daily Forward.
