Key Partnerships
Throughout the year, FASPE partners with educational and cultural institutions and organizations, ranging from museums and memorial sites in Europe, to international conferences, professional development programs, and a theater company. These partnerships are integral to the site-based learning that are central to programs like our annual Fellowships and Ethics Abroad Travel Program, as well as ongoing symposia and public work to advance professional ethics and ethical leadership.
Below is a sample of FASPE's ongoing partnerships, with more to be added soon:
Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum - Each year, FASPE brings its Fellows and Ethics Abroad participants to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, the site of the former Nazi German concentration and extermination camp. Throughout its curriculum, FASPE uses the power of place—the significance of learning this history in situ—to create urgency and context for the rigorous ethical reflection and dialogue that takes place after experiencing these sites.
The Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation - Named after Hans and Berthold Finkelstein and established by Bayer in 2023, the foundation supports research and remembrance projects on crimes committed during the Nazi era—in particular on the subject of Nazi forced labor. The Finkelstein Foundation develops programs for a corporate culture characterized by historical and ethical responsibility, contemporary leadership, and democratic action. In 2026, the Finkelstein Foundation sponsored part of the fellowship experience for our Business cohort.
Tectonic Theater Project - Since its founding in 1991, Tectonic Theater Project has created and staged over twenty plays and musicals, including Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, The Laramie Project, Doug Wright’s Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife, the Tony Award-winning 33 Variations, the Drama Desk Award-winning Seven Deadly Sins, and Here There Are Blueberries, winner of the The Theater J Trish Vradenburg Jewish Play Prize.
Medical Review Auschwitz - Medical Review Auschwitz: Medicine Behind the Barbed Wire is an annual international conference designed to educate the world’s medical community about medical ethics and practice in the context of the Second World War. In recent years, FASPE staff, faculty, and board members have presented lectures and participated in panels at the annual conference.
